Feeling better..

There is plenty of evidence to show that counselling is effective.
The most important factor in feeling better is a desire to
change, that – and the relationship with your counsellor.

Your first session..

In our first session together we will begin the process of establishing a
confidential connection where you can feel safe, respected,
and accepted. I will listen closely and without any judgment so
you can talk freely about anything on your mind. You can
share as little or as much as feels right for you.

I’m here to listen ..

There’s no need to prepare or to worry about saying the 'right' thing. I’m
here to listen, and together we’ll see where the conversation leads.
Use your first session to get comfortable, ask questions, and
get a feel for how this process can support you. There’s
no pressure – just a space for you to be you.

..help and encourage

We will work together in a way that will help and encourage you to
understand yourself better and find a way through your present
concerns. As a counsellor I will not be surprised by anything
you tell me and I will work hard to understand things
from your point of view.

..ethical and professional

I am qualified and registered with the BACP. Counselling is a special kind
of professional relationship, a partnership that is regulated by
an ethical framework and has clear boundaries. It’s a place
where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly,
knowing that your privacy and well-being are protected.

..grow and heal

You and I will work together to help you gain clarity and self-understanding.
The aim is to empower you so you can grow and heal in ways that feel
true to you. Regular weekly sessions give us the best chance to make
progress, so it’s great if you can commit to attending and engaging
fully. And change doesn’t happen overnight, so give yourself time.
Every small step forward is a step in the right direction.

About me..

I was born in 1953. I have 2 adult children
and live with my wife and a small dog in a
village near Bath. I have worked in Trowbridge for
the last 3 years and, in a variety of roles, in Bath and
Bristol for over 40 years.

I am deeply committed to doing this work with the
utmost integrity, patience, and the highest quality of care.
I have a daily and weekly limit to the number of clients I see.

My approach to counselling is predominantly
person-centred. By working together exploring,
challenging and asking questions we can bring
about change. In addition to my current work
with adults I have several years experience of
working with adolescents. I have some
experience of working with neuro-diversity.

I am a registered member of the BACP,
registration number 406696.
I abide by their code of ethics and am currently
working towards my BACP accreditation.
As an experienced counsellor I am here to help and support you.
